Our Story
In 1953, Leo Barkus opened Barkus Bakery on the North Side of Pittsburgh. He was joined in the business by his brother, Bob, in 1955. Barkus Bakery began with a single retail location and grew to have 11 locations, becoming one of Pittsburgh's most successful and largest retail bakeries. Together, Leo and Bob operated Barkus Bakery for nearly 30 years, selling the business in 1982. In 1994, Leo and his daughter, Amy, started Barkus Chocolates at the Point Plaza in Butler
